Franco Benza has more than ten years of experience in the areas of project management, process review, financial analysis and reporting, risk management, and strategic initiatives. He has extensive background in small business banking, water, oil, mining and fishing.

Previously, Franco was Strategic Initiatives Senior Manager with a large Canadian bank in Peru, where he was responsible for the projects portfolio of the Small Business segment. He worked as Operations Manager for a social impact investment enterprise company based in Washington, DC, where he performed marketing and operation initiatives. Before that, Franco was responsible for the execution of business performance solutions and managing project teams at Ernst & Young in Colombia and Peru.

Franco earned an MBA, with a concentration in Strategy, and he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance. He is fluent in Spanish and has a basic understanding of Italian and Portuguese.

Selected Project Experience
  • Worked as Strategic Initiatives Senior Manager at Scotiabank, Peru responsible for the projects portfolio of the Small Business segment worth $3 billion. Diagnosed business models and elaborated strategy and product proposals to increase profitability.
  • Performed a cost initiative with the Chinese supplier of a cooking stoves business in Nigeria to reduce the landed cost in 14% by optimizing specifications and aligning the product with customer research insights.
  • Developed a methodology to benchmark the production costs of the water pumps business by breaking down direct costs and overhead in North American, European and Asian plants. Identified preliminary cost reduction opportunities around $10 million by supplier relations restructure, specifications optimization and outsourcing.
  • Directed a team of six international consultants in the implementation of a financial shared services center in Ecopetrol, main Oil&Gas company in Colombia. Reorganized the personnel structure and decreased process lead times resulting in $ 1million annual savings.
  • Reviewed the maintenance, human resources, environmental, warehouse and community relations process of Minera Milpo (Votorantim) in Peru and identified improvement opportunities worth $300k.
  • Reviewed the maintenance, environmental, personnel management, payroll and contractors procurement processes of Golds Fields La Cima operations in Peru.
  • Diagnosed the risk management of Pesquera Hayduk in Peru identifying objectives, risks and control gaps in the company’s critical processes.
  • Simulated Hotel Casa Andina’s financial-tributary cash flows and identified new optimal exports tax return scenarios resulting.
  • Diagnosed improvement and organizational structure opportunities on the procurement, warehouse and HR processes for The Sarfaty Group, a multi-industry economic group in Peru, resulting in annual savings around $500k.
  • Identified process improvement opportunities on the key processes of TMI, biggest metal mechanic in Peru, generating annual savings of approximately $1 million.
